Craftsman Lawn Tractor

Lawn Tractor Craftsman 4000-14 HP OHV-Kohler eng.-42" mowering deck -6 speed Transaxle

I have had this tractor for about 17 years. It has been running great with no problems. However yesterday when I tried to start it the starter keep turning. I had to unplug the battery to get it to stop. I thought maybe the key switch had stuck or something so I unpluged the key switch and left it unpluged. I touched the battery cable to the battery and the engine started to turn over trying to start. When I connect the battery cables to battery the engine will start to crank. Makes no differance if clutch is pressed or not; even with blades ingaged it will still try to start as soon as I connect the battery. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Sounds like you need a new starter solenoid.

Hey thanks a lot. I replaced the solenoid for $13 and it fixed the problem. Could not be happier. Thanks again.
