What is the battery voltage when the engine is running?? Also how long does it take to discharge the battery & does it still discharge with the battery disconnected??? Check for a draw while diconnecting stuff ( like key switch,, Voltage regulator ,,,Etc & let us know if you see anything..Maybe post some engine #'s as there may be differances in the charging systems & they may help the pros... Just some thoughts... Roger

Thanks for your reply. I did replace the voltage regulator. Did not help.
The mower runs for 2 hrs before the battery drains after a overnight 2 amp charge.
I will get a meter and check the readings as you suggested. Also I will look for shorts in the wire harness.
Thanks again.
Bucky
PS. Is the charging coil/stator hard to replace?
The engine# FH601V-AS29

The voltage with the mower off is 12.64 . With the mower running the voltage is down to 12.25. I did change out the charging coil. Battery still draining and the voltage did not increase while engine running.
Ideas?
Thanks

If you replaced the regulator & the charge coil (It's under the flywheel.. Right??) I think that's all there is to the charging system... Have you verified that all the connections & fuses are O.K... The charging coil that you replaced,, What did it look like & where did the wires go?? Just to make sure it wasn't a coil you changed,,, Sorry,, Roger

Yes, I changed the charging coil under the flywheel. The wires went to the voltage regulator. No Problem.
I will check all the fuses and connections tonight.
Thanks

Scag Tiger Cub 19hp Kawaski charging problem

Roger
Guess What?
It was the fuse. You were the only person to tell me to check them. Thanks
Voltage across the battery is up when the engine is running.
Should be good to go.
