Won't run without choke

just bought a used suzuki 700 gas generator for camping Only prob is it won't stay running unless choke is on 1/2 to full, Turn choke off and generator quits Starts with 1-2 pulls Should have checked it better when I bought but was in a hurry

It just needs the carburetor cleaned. Get some carb cleaner, take it off, open it up, and clean it out. Make sure all passages are clear.

Yes carb needs to be cleaned. Since it does run, I would try SeaFoam in the gas first. Can be found at any auto parts store. This is quicker & easier than removing the carb. It's worth a try. You will need to run it for at least 15 mins then slowly & gradually turn off the choke.
