Craftman mower, dies when I release clutch or engage blades

I have a newer Craftman mower 917.275972. Engine starrts fine, but when i release the clutch or engage the blades, egine dies. Bypassed seat switch and replaced the clutch switch, no change. Any ideas? Thanks

Un-bypass the seat switch and if the problem still exists, replace the seat switch.

You can't just bypass the seat switch on some of these units, Some have a switch inside the seat switch plug connector that is activated when the connector is plugged on.

You can unplug the seat switch and start the unit while standing next to it being careful, Push in on the tab in the center of the seat switch connector with your finger then ease the clutch up slowly. If the engine continues to run the seat switch is faulty and replacement should solve your problem.
