Does any know who made this unit. I need a fuel filter and the sears part site says that parts are no longer available for this trimmer. I willing to get a non-original filter, but I need to know that it will work with this unit's carb. Thanks.

Just pick up a generic one at a local small engine shop. Most all of them will work.

Still having problems

with getting this trimmer going. If I put carb cleaner in the carb it will start on full choke but when I put it on half choke it dies.

One thing I notice is that the muffler is leaking a black fluid when running that has the consistency of 2 cycle oil. I suspect carbon build up so I took off the housing and briefly tried to get the muffler off but the springs are very tight. So I thought better of it until I know I it needs to be removed.

So far I have check the fuel filter and lines, and replaced the diaphram.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the carb needs to be cleaned and reconditioned.
