Governor problem with honda gx160 generator

Does anyone know how the governor arm attaches to the governor toothed wheel inside the crankcase.

There is a paddle on the end of the shaft that rides against a plastic 'thumb' on the end of the pin. If the engine suddenly started over speeding the gear has likely failed, not uncommon in Honda's.

Thanks for your reply. The plastic "thumb" on the end of the pin has broken into pieces. Do i need to replace this "thumb" or will it work ok without ? Does the paddle rest on top of the "thumb" or at the side ?

The plunger definitely needs to be replaced, the paddle rides on it.
