weedeater featherlite fl20

Hi, my starting string does not recoil when I pull it. I've taken the weedeater apart, but have no idea what to do next.

Please help.

Thanks,
Tom

If it's not recoiling, but the rope isn't broken, the problem is likely in the recoil spring. Check under the rope pulley and see if the spring is either broken or detached.

Marbobj has you on the right track,,, Just make sure to wear gloves & safety glasses as these little springs can bite you pretty quick if they fly out of the starter when you're not expecting it,,, Roger

thanks

It was definitely the recoil spring. It was slighly detached. I had to gently place it back in. I was wondering what that silvery thing was behind the white recoil thing. Thanks for the tip...it's working like new.

he round silver thing? It's just a smooth metal backing to allow the spring to coil and recoil against it with little wear and without rubbing on the plastic housing.
