Carb Help

I recently cleaned the carburetor on a Scotts self-propelled 21995x8B (B&S engine). I was proud of myself until I started the lawnmower and it runs FAST!!! very FAST!!!. I'm not sure I have the cable in the correct hole. I've tried the two that are there. In neither holde does it appear that the speed adjustment on the handle nor the throttle adjustment moves the valve. What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you post the engine model AND type numbers we can look up your exact throttle control assembly then better inform you.

You should be able to run wide open without the rpm's too high. I bet you have the springs, that are on the carb linkage, got hooked up wrong and are too taut.
