Briggs engine swap.....charging issue
Hi all,
Bought a Dixon ZTR (DM-30-46648) with a bad engine. It would run, but had a bad knock. It had a 10 hp briggs engine(28A707,0116 01,9504284D). I pulled that engine and replaced it with a good 14 hp briggs engine.(287707,0153 01,9302094A). The thing I am not sure about is the charging system since the 10 hp is an L-head and the 14 hp is an OHV engine. I have looked at some wiring diagrams on tulsa engines. It looks like my 10 hp engine is a dc only charging system and my 14 hp is a dual charging system. This is how I wired it. I used the original red wire from the harness and connected it to the red wire coming from the engine. I started it and it fired right up,ran good and then shut it off. No problems so far. I just need to know if I wired it correctly so the alternator will charge. Thanks in advance
