25hp kohler horizontal wont start backfires

ok motor broke rod. put new rod piston crank in motor. now itwont start. oil pressure is 38. compression was perfect until we cranked it for a while then its gone. took lifters out and apart then cleaned them and replaced them valves still wont close completely

What?? I assume you mean you put in a new rod, piston, and crankshaft? And the lifters are now holding the valves open? To start with, what engine do you have?

Sorry about that , it is a ch730 off a scag turf tiger. And yes rods, piston and crankshaft are new. I actually even put newer heads off of a 20 hp but it did the same thing. we cleaned lifters and i also tried some diferent lifters , though they werent new ones. same thing still.
