B & S Model 10A902 push mower problem ?

The mower has just started revving up and down while running
and will not stop. I have new gas in, and a new air filter, but
I am not sure where to look next. Also I need to cut my grass
but, I'm not sure if this is bad for the motor?

Most likely, there is an obstruction in the carburetor causing the surging. You will need to remove, disassemble and clean the carburetor. An inexpensive aerosol carburetor cleaner should work fine. I would focus on cleaning the main nozzle and not bother with a total carburetor disassembly. Your carburetor is similar to the one in the links below.

Had the same problem with my 10a902 and it turned out to be the diaphragm between the carb and gas tank. Get the 495770 kit for <$5 and your problem should go away. There is a gasket that comes with the diaphragm.Check the following link for instructions
