tecumseh carb flooding

Hi- on a Tecumseh LEV120 361028A I'm having a problem with the carb overflowing and getting gas in the oil. The float (metal) doesn't seem to have any liquid in it, and the inlet needle and seat seem to shut off OK. I was told that if the inlet needle clip is put on facing the wrong direction it can cause this.
True? Or should I just replace the float, needle, and seat?
Thanks, Steve

I haven't know there to be any reason to care which way the clip faces, but i have heard it too.

Shake the float near you ear. Do you hear anything sloshing in it? If so, it's the problem. If not, go ahead and put a needle and seat in it.
