Crankshaft Removal...HELP!

Hopefully someone can shed some light on the correct procedure to remove this crankshaft. This was an 8HP Tecumseh horizontal shaft engine from a MTD Leaf Blower. I have another engine and will source the correct shaft. I would like to be able to remove and replace the shaft in the good engine without damaging the case or shaft.

That engine was ran out of oil by the look of the crank throw.. Does the shaft not pull out of the side cover?? Will it turn in the side cover.. If you have it this far & still can't get the crank out,, My guess is the side cover bushing has siezed to the crank... Roger

Ouch! Yeah, looks like lack of oil caused that problem. The shaft should just pull out of the crankcase cover easily. It looks like it has pulled out some, so it may not be totally seized. You may be able to help it out with some penetrating oil and just turn it and work with it until it finally comes out.

no doubt that it was run dry. The shaft is free and slides/turns. At this point I am really just trying to figure it out...and you guys are saying that it should just slide out...well then I am perplexed. I may just have to cut it up to see what is holding it.
