Briggs Carb adjustment
Hi guys,
My snowblower is not running well. Its old. i just don't understand this carb as the motor is 4 stroke, but there are two carb adustments. The carb is nothing like I have ever seen before. The model is 222 413 type 0654-01. The snowblower is hard to start and backfires alot. I have had the carb apart and cleaned. Can anyone tell me what the two adjustments represent--i am sure one is fuel/air mixture, but unsure which one. Where should they be set? 1.5 turns out??
Thanks!!!

You have the typical 1960's-1970's B&S with an updraft carb. These were always hard to start. The adjustment screw on the top of the carb is the low speed adjustment. The 1 on the bottom of the carb is the high speed adjustment. Starting point setting on both is 1 to 1-1/2 turns out from lightly seated.
I sold mine and bought a new one 15 years ago because the B&S are so damn hard to start.
