GG5500 Generator stops after 30/40 mins.

Cranks on first pull runs for 30 to 40 minutes then stops. Restarts on first pull. Sometimes it acts like it is going to stop but then speeds back up. Was doing this before it was vandalized. I replaced carburetor due to wires being pulled out of solenoid. Even with new carburetor and new wires still does same thing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Check the gas cap vent. Does it have a thumbscrew vent? Is it open? You could try loosening the cap a little and see if it still does it (if it doesn't have a thumbscrew to open).
