Homko Polar Bear Snow Thrower

I have the above. It stalls. It leaks gas. It is, obviously, OLD.
Does anyone have someone on Long Island, New York that can service this thing and install an electric start (I'm getting too old to crank this thing) for a reasonable fee?
Thanks,
Jay

Any repair shop should be able to service the engine. Based on the age I will guess the engine is a Tecumseh. As far as installing electric start, that would require a new flywheel and starter. This upgrade would be costly and considering the age of the blower, you must decide the value of it.

Take off the recoil housing (not just the recoil) and look to see if there is a ring gear on it. Also look at the side of the block for drilled & tapped holes. If holes & ring gear is there, you can install electric starter. They are not cheap. You didn't say the size of the engine. A new starter costs about $150. You can find used ones for less than 1/2 that. Please post snowblower number & engine numbers.
