Toro 1028 Snowthrower - control interlock

Hi all,

Over the past few days, I've been using my snowthrower quite a bit to keep up with the storms. For the most part, all works flawlessly on this 3-year old Toro 1028 LXE.

Today however, I discovered a nuisance problem - the control interlock between the auger and traction lever that's designed to allow one-handed operation and chute control no longer seems to work/engage. I must constantly hold down both hand levers to keep the machine moving and throw snow. To change chute direction, I need to either stop the machine from moving, or stop the auger from throwing the snow.

Again, this is a convenience issue at best, but still something I'd like to get working again if possible. Any ideas on what might be the problem? I've read through the owner's manual and adjusted the auger/impeller cable with no change.

Thanks!

The interlock mechanism is on the left hand handle. There is a spring, a cam, and interlock lever attached with a shoulder bolt. Could be a broken spring or the bolt broke and every thing just fell off or it's just sticking. It's fairly simple. You can goto Toro's web site and look at a parts break down you just need your model number & serial number.

Thanks for the tip - I'll go checkout the Toro site now for the parts break-down. It certainly doesn't seem like this should be that complicated, but just looking at the control, I didn't exactly see anything obvious. I'll verify all the parts are still there and try and go from there.
