95 Craftsman Ez3 - clutch sticking (maybe?)
I got a great deal on this lawnmower (917.256520) last summer but it’s a little old so I wanted to take this winter to show it some love. I sharpened the blades, cleaned the deck, changed the belt, oil and spark plug and it runs great with one exception - the clutch/brake peddle sticks. I have to put my foot under it and pull it up 90% of the time. I found the cable and what looks like the area to make adjustments by the rear tire but after playing around with it, it doesn’t seem to help.
Any guidance on how to address this would be greatly appreciated.

Its a 1995 Craftsman EZ3 15.5HP 42" 6 Speed. I just checked and the spring is there. It’s parked in the corner of my garage and it’s hard to get a good look right now though. When I can to pull it out I will check fully. Assuming the return spring checks out, what do you think the next thing to look at would be?

Check the arm that moves the transaxle belt tensioner pulley. It probably needs lubrication, possibly even removal and cleanup, grease, and reassemble.
