When I stop my riding mower after sitting for a day gas leaks into the oil reservoir. Can you tell me what would cause this and how to fix it? When I open the oil fill plug it is full of gas and I have to drain and change the oil. Will this harm the engine?

If we had the name and size of the engine it would be helpful.Just a guess here but I would check the float in the carb.It must be sticking open.Although all the gas is being burned when running(we hope) you must fear that some may be making its way into the crankcase and thinning your oil down. This can cause early engine wear or failure.
