Hi:Nelsonboats

Remove the starter cover.
Do not remove the rope pulley.
Remove any old rope from pulley.
Rotate pulley to add tension to spring.
Hold pulley in place with vise grips.
Feed in new rope through starter housing hole.

<Helps to heat the end and shape it to a point>

Push it through the pulley and out through the hole in the center of pulley. Tie knot.

Now gently hold rope and release the vise grips and the spring will take in the new rope.

Note where the rope stops going into the starter cover hole. Insert other end of rope through pull handle and slide handle down rope. Pull out some rope against the tension of the spring. <about 6-10 inches> Slide start grip down to that point and tie knot. Cut off excess rope.

Hope these instructions are clear.
Good Luck,
TomBartco
