My MTD garden tractor wont go

I replaced the rear drive belt in my tractor, adjusted the tension but the tractor will not go hardly at all. If i depress the clutch slightly it will move alittle. It is like the belt is slipping , but as I said tension is correct....any idea?

MTD's are extremely finicky when it comes to belts. Did you use an MTD belt or an aftermarket belt? Aftermarket belts do not work well on MTD.

if it's the vari-drive you is a complete sequence in the owner's manual that has to be followed to set up the shifter and clutch. Can you read these?

I agree about the aftermarket belts. If you went and bought a fractional belt that matches yours, you'll need to do it again with the correct MTD belt. They are specially sized and pitched to work with the variator. It is best to replace both at the same time or results may not be optimal.
