toro T2500 generator regulator wtd

Greetings one and all.Beer 4U2

The generator has suddenly stopped generating reliably. when it stops producing power I found that by tapping the regulator (toro# 50-4040) the unit would start doing its business again; occasionally dropping till I tap it again.

I see that the part still seems to be available but for what they are asking I could consider just getting a new generator altogether.

anyone have any ideas where I might locate a reasonably priced replacement, even a good used one to hold me over?

Toro Generator

Do you have a model and serial #of the Generator? And what do you consider unreasonable for the price of the regulator? I sympathize with you about the cost of the part, but that is the way it is today. I just bought a new kerosene heater 20 years newer than the one I had that burned up a circuit board. $120 for the board, $220 for the whole new heater. You know what I did....
