You will need to go to a small engine shop and get a tube of "OO" EP Grease.

acceptable gear case alternative?

do you know if that is similar to 90 wt gear oil. would that be an acceptable alternative to the 00 EP type grease? Would using 90 wt gear oil cause any problems if used?

Early on Toro used 90W gear oil but they had trouble getting a good seal on the small frame auger gear boxes and switched to grease. They use Mag1 from Lubriplate Toro part number 505-101 the OO EP would be a good choice or the gear oil if you can get the gear box sealed. If you use gear oil it must be safe for bronze bushings and gears.
