SnowBlower Braking belts

I have a 1979 Yardman SnowBird 6/24. They thing is a work horse and runs great. But now it is breaking the belt. Not sure how to explain which belt but. It is the one on the outside that is given tention when I push the handle to go Forward or pull it back to go in reverse. I guess it would be the drive belt. Went to local small engine shop and he has been out of them so he told me that the local Autoparts store sells the same ones hel had. The label on the belt says Lawn and garden on it so it does not seem to be a normal Autobelt.

Please post the model number. If you do go to an auto parts store, make sure that you get a belt made for outdoor power equipment as they are VERY different than a regular automotive belt.
An OPE belt is made to take the stress of engagement where a regular automotive will not.
Maybe that is the problem. The belt was replaced with an automotive belt.
