Blade/Knife for Troy Bilt Super Tomahawk Chipper Shredder

I have a 1992 or so Troy Bilt Super Tomahawk Super Chipper Shredder Model No. 47258. and I need a new blade/knife for it. My dealer said that mtd now owns it and they don't have a blade for my machine and I should be very careful as I won't be able to get one from them. I hope someone can help me. Thanks

was your unit in 92 made by MTD? If so you should have no trouble getting parts. I have an older yardman chipper made by mtd and it's not all that different from the current troy built one sharing many parts. I would think that MTD would also have continued parts for the troys made before the takeover.

Mtd brought the Troy-Bilt & Bolens names, the tillers & tractors but they wanted nothing to do with the chippers. Murray brought the chipper part but did very little with it. When Murray went bankrupt Briggs & Stratton brought them. The blade number is 1900104 but appears to be NLA. A company named WesSpur has a blade that is 4 1/4" X 1 1/4" X 1/4" thick with three mounting holes. If that is your blades dimensions than that may be the only option

It looks like 1900104 was superseded to 1901824
1901782MA Murray part number may work

I clean at a shop here in Canada that has a brand new troy built chipper for sale and it's MTD. I checked the parts numbers in the manual with it and they are mtd and some match my yardman chipper.

38racing MTD owns the Troy-Bilt name it is no surprise that they have started putting the Troy-Bilt name back on chippers. It looks like they started in 2003 back with the Troy-Bilt name but they are all MTD not the old Troy-Bilt units. They probably had an agrement not to use the Troy-Bilt name on chippers until 2003

Super Tomahawk chipper blade

I have a 1993-4 8hp Troy-Bilt Super Tomahawk chipper/shredder, Model #47266. The blade is getting very narrow. I found a place on line that may be able to get me a 4-1/2 X 1-1/4X chipper blade, but I'm still waiting for an answer from them, even though it's listed on their website. It's Sharptool Co. Inc. ([email protected]) #KSBC-88. They will make this old blade and also the 4-1/4 one. p.s. the belt is a Gates from NAPA #5L290W. Beer 4U2

The curent MTD chippers (Troy-Bilt, Yardman, etc) are a totally different design from the old Tomahawk chippers of pre MTD Troy-Bilt. I have seend a few vendors selling aftermarket blades on Ebay. Expect to pay around $40 US or more. Were you aware that the old blade could be removed and spun 180 degrees for a new cutting edge?
