Toro 524 snowblower lift in front
Good Afternoon,
Ok I know this is not a problem as we just got hit with 20" of snow heavy snow!.
My Toro tore through it thanks to all the help I got off this forum.
Having said that I live on a steep hill & my Toro lifts up in the front (This is fine for my straight axle 57 Chevy but not my snow thrower) so I really have to fight it to keep it down & do the drive twice.
What I seen on a web site last night & it's made for Ariens snow thrower but I think I could put it on mine is a weight that keeps the front down!.
Is this a good idea or not? & what if any are the pit falls to this piece? I think it is a cool idea except for the price!
Well Thank you for any info you can give me on this.

Can you post the web site? Yes, front end weights are very useful for keeping the front of the snowblower on the ground. And if you have a "snow cab" on it like I do, you really need weight on the front to off set the wieght of the snow cab. Without a snowcab you would probably need about 10 lbs, with snowcab, maybe 20lbs. I am working on making a small box to bolt on top of the auger housing and plan on filling it with 20 lbs of metal & going down to the local wleding shop & buying a couple pieces of metal.

I sent you a private message but just in case you don't get it the web site is www.snowblowerdirect.com
I just bought the one that is for an Ariens it is 10 pds. the only reason is it gave the specs for this one but they have cheaper ones.
Just click on accessories & you will see them they have a lot of wild things on there for your blower. What I need is drift breaker they have them for older toro's 24 inch like mine but my model # does not show but they have others. (I think you will find what you need.
Hope this helps.

when I raced go kart I had to add weight to reach class. I had a bunch of lead weights taken from tires that were re-balanced. I melted the lead into salmon tins and drilled hole in centre. When I added a battery to my blower to run an electric shute it lifted the front so I just bolted 2 of my tins to the top of the bucket.

Then I would of had to go up to management & see if I could of had one I think they would of said yes but I never thought of that. I just hope it doesn't go right through the front as it is all rusted but I think 10 pds. should be fine. I just am sick of fighting with it to keep it down & working 3rd shift I need to keep this mountain I live on clear.

Go to your local hardware store and get a some angle iron with the holes, bolt the pieces to front of the blower to create a basket then set a concrete block or two in it. Have a good one. Geo
