Dingo/Bobcat vs. sod cutter

Want to get stone delivered for a new shed asap and need to clear an area approx. 30 x 20 x 4" deep for the stone. 2/3 of area is dirt and 1/3 of it still grass. Would we be able to do this with a sod cutter, or would we need to rent a dingo/bobcat? The latter being 2 or 3x the price. The former would fit on my trailer.

Will the sod cutter remove the 2 or 3 inches of dirt on a 2nd pass once initial sod is removed is my question.

Thanks in advance.

It may dig in and loosen the soil...but it won't remove it. That would be be you, a shovel, and a wheelbarrow.

Sod cutters are basically a blade oscillating back and forth with a depth adjustment.
