cleaning a 2 cycle engine

Can anyone tell me how to properly clean a 2 cycle engine for lawn equipment. I am hesitant on using harsh chemical cleaners or degreasers because I don't want to screw anything up. Thanks

DO NOT ! understand what you mean by'CLEAN OUT'??/ as for storring for a period -/- add some fuel stabilizer to the fuel / run i for 3-4-5 minuits. drain the tank back into the fuel can-/-
(i use a paper towel /shaped into a funel-inside the actual fullel-as a filter)-has always worked for me!!

I clean them all the time using regular degreasers and a pressure washer. Go for it.
