22 HP Briggs Intek knocking

I have a 22 hp Intek OHV that makes a loud knocking noise when started. When you give it throttle and increase the rpm the knocking is not as loud. In fact, it almost quits but you can still hear it a little bit. Sounds like it's definitely coming from the engine. Any guesses as to what might be causing this?

Look real close @ the bolts that hold the Engine to the frame... Re torque them even if they look tight... Lots of times I see mowers that sound like there going to fly apart & after tightening 4 bolts,, the customers are so happy,,Some of them even offer to pay!!! LOL... Roger

I agree, sounds like your problem. Tighten all 4 mounting bolts. They make the most racket right as the engine fires up.

I tightened the 4 bolts and adjusted the belt and it took care of it. Thanks for the help.
