Honda HRT216 Drive Cable Help Needed

I need some help. I have a Honda HRT216 thats about eight or ten years old with a broken drive cable. I tipped the machine on its side and removed two metal sheets that were held on by about five 10mm bolts. I can see the underside of the tranny but not the top of it where I would be able to change the cable. Do I need to take the whole machine apart or can I remove the belt and the tranny will spin around? I just want to make sure I do not break anything. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I don't recall on that mower, check back often... someone here is bound to reply with some accurate info.
