MTD discontinued it because it is not a fast moving part and your tractor is over 20 years old.
Ask at your local small engine repair shop if they may have 1 out back in their junk pile or if they know of anyone who may have 1.

he's copied it from the ipl. I have an mtd built 85 800 series, 1 up from his 600 and it also has part numbers like that. I could use his dilemma about getting the part to justify to my wife why I should get the free 800 front end section that was offered in my area. Actually I emailed about it and it was gone.
A friend as a 700 series that he gave me the deck for as he uses it only for yard hauling. I notice on it's ipl that it uses the same lift handle as the 600 needed here.
My guess is a lawn tractor junk yard is the best bet now.
