17 hp Tecumseh idle problem

Got a 17 hp tecumseh in a TSC special, it starts and idles perfect, but when you get it above 3/4 idle it starts to surge and eventually dies unless you pull the choke out to save it and then at high idle you have to run the choke out about a quarter of the way.
Any suggestions....
I put a new needle, seat, and bowl gasket in it and that did not help..
Please help I have got it sold already and the guy is waiting on it!

Sounds like the main jet is clogged. (the bolt on the bottom of the bowl). There are 2-3 holes in the jet. The big one is easy to see. The other 1 or 2 are tiny pinholes usually located in the threads. These are most likely clogged and they do clogg easily since they are so small.

At the bottom of the bowl is a drain plug or a fuel shutoff solenoid screwed into it. Remove this, then behind that is a spring with a plastic jet in it, remove that too. Behind that, all the way down in the hole is a very small o-ring. Replace that o-ring and your problems should go away.
