how to replace the pully on a toro 20016

can some one tell me how to replace the pulley on the tyranny of a toro 20016 mower . tried to remove the nut but shaft spins ?http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ilies/wall.gif

You have to hold the pulley to keep the shaft from spinning. An impact gun also works well.

toro 20016 half pulley front

well have put a pipe wrench on the pulley but no luck the shaft turns yet but the stays still . do i need to pull a party the traney ?

As Cheese said, an impact works well.. If you don't have one,, run the tranny (or mower) to the auto shop you use to service your car (hope for a perk from being a regular customer) & ask one of the Tecs to Zap it off for ya... Roger

On this model, does the outer half of the pulley freewheel on the shaft while the inner half is solidly attached? If so, you will need to somehow secure the inner half of the pulley. Also, you might be able to prevent the shaft from rotating by solidly securing an axle.
