push lawnmower safety flap

Yesterday my Craftsman push lawnmower caught and chewed up the rear "safety" flap as I was pulled it backwards. Actually surprised it hasn't happened sooner. Seems like a no brainer that the flap should be made so it can't reach the blade, but what do I know.

Wonder if I should replace this OEM or if there is an after market product that would work better, or just fuggitaboutit.

Any thoughts?

OEM is the only place you will find it. Last 1 I replaced was only about $12.

Might be available at your town dump too, if someone else dropped off a dead lawnmower.
