safety switch location for my murray riding lawn mower

Hey Guys!
I inherited a jury rigged murray 40" riding lawn mower. I have replaced the missing motor mount screws, straps and bolts and wing nuts to the deck in place of the bailing wire method, replaced blades. I also inherited this machine with the safety switch laying on the floor board that leads to the clutch/brake.
I replaced it because the plastic ears were broken. I cannot find the slot where it pops back in place. I can see the other one that goes to the pto and how it works. Can someone please tell me where the slot is. This should be easy there are not that many moving parts but i cannot see it. I thought it went in the slot where the rod goes back and forth but it doesn't. Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What model is it? It's going to be along the linkage that moves when you press the pedal, probably under the frame.
