Question Hole in Primer Bulb

I have a Sears mower (143 996510) with a Tecumseh engine (LEV120). The primer bulb clearly needs to be replaced. Is there a secret to removing the old bulb? I always hate to start prying on parts unless I am sure that is the thing to do. Are primer bulbs interchangeable? Will most any Tecumseh bulb do? Any chance a B&S bulb would work?

Thanks,

You need a primer bulb specifically for your model. They are common enough and might be available at local hardware and some automotive stores, certainly any small engine repair shop.
Once you get a new one it will be more clear how to remove the old one.
You will need to bend the tabs on the locking ring down to get the old one out, then the new one can be pressed in until the locking ring snaps in place.
