McCulloch Chain brake

Hey Guys,, I have a PM605 saw chain brake here.. The owner only brought the brake assy, not the whole saw.. The brake will not latch in the operating position,, It's the type 2 in the parts look-up.. The latch doesn't apear worn (still has paint on it).. I can't see anything missing as per the parts look-up,, & the other repair place in the next town can't figure it out either... Does anyone know these saws better than I do??? What am I missing?? Thanks Lots,, Roger

I've looked @ this for 2 days & revisited it again after posting... The answer was right in front of me but I didn't see it for looking @ it... The large coil spring under the handle hooks onto the pawl to hold it latched.. I couldn't see "the forest for the trees" Thanks Everyone... Roger

Honda rotary mower only runs oon full choke

This is an HRR216VXA self propelled mower that ran fine last time out. No changes in the interim other than cleaning the mower after last cutting. Used proper procedures rinsing and drying but??? Symptoms - mower starts beautifully but only runs on full choke. Taking mower off choke results in the engine sputtering and dying. Will run on full choke for 10 minutes(?) or so then dies. Won't run at that point whether choked or not. Changed fuel to a fresh batch, checked and wiped plug, checked and cleaned slightly dirty airfilter. No improvement. Sprayed cab cleaner in air intake and ran better briefly (probably burning the cleaner) but then back to only running on full choke. Out of ideas at this point and would appreciate suggestions. Scotts Lawn Tractor L17.542 - Died, and won't crank

I have a Scotts L17.542 that sat unused for a good 6 months. It's old and starting to nickle and dime me on parts. I decided to try and resurrect it: cleaned carbuertor, charged battery and sure enough it ran ... long enough to cut a swathe of grass. However, as I was putting it away, the motor died and now it won't even turn over. My first suspicion is that the kill switch has failed (seat kill switch failed once before), but I don't want to spend any money testing parts. Is there a way to test the kill switch without replacing it? Since the seat switch is less than 2 years old, I'm wondering if it could be the PTO kill switch? And how would I test that switch? Slightly related question: Although the battery is showing 12 volts on the voltmeter, the lights are not coming on. Shouldn't I be able to turn the lights on even if the kill switch is bad? And if so, then any suggestions on where to look in the electrical system? Thanks ...Read More
