fuel tank pressure in a weedeater xt200
Hi all
Quick question regarding an xt200 weedeater fuel tank. I believe that the tank builds up pressure during running and I think that the fuel cap should relieve it back to atmosphere after it has been shut off. In my case it does not, it will actually drain the tank withing a few days through the carb. I think the cap may not be relieving the pressure. (replace the cap) Am I right in this assumption?
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

You could try leaving the cap loose a bit and see if it still happens.
It depends too on just where it is leaking, fuel leaks are very hard to identify sometimes. Fuel lines and primer should be a suspect too.

If it's leaking through the carb, I'd say the needle in the carb is letting it out or possibly the check valve for the primer air intake (if equipped...probably not) is leaking. The gas cap will generally let air in but not out.
