Toro 70040 engage problems, plz help!
ok..i bought a used toro 70040 off craigslist and had it checked out to learn it was a good buy..i got home and was cutting the crass and it disengaged itself in the middle of mowing lawn, and i can not use lever to engage as nothing happens, it runs fine still driveable and doesnt stall when i try to engage, i hear u guys are the best, please help if you can, ty.

Hello davisonfam,
You need to look under the machine and make sure the belt is still on the engine and deck pulleys, If so take a look at the engagement linkage and make sure it's still connected.
There's also a large spring on the front of the deck, When the deck is engaged this spring pulls the deck forward to tighten the belt.
Just do some snoopin around and see what you find.....

so i looked around and i see that when i pull lever there is nothing connected to it, like no pulley/tension to engage could somthing have broke?

Most likely something has came loose (a linkage rod) or broke, I know it's hard to see under this thing the way the deck mounts so you may need to remove the deck to find the problem.
