If anyone needs a power earth auger...
I'm in the process of building a fence on my property and while I was sourcing supplies, I decided to look for earth augers to dig the fence post holes. I was disappointed to find that they cost $500+ for a good one just for the power head.
However (and this is NOT an ad for the product or the merchant), I found a Tanaka TIA-350S on clearance for $163 brand new from a popular brick and mortar store. I'm guessing it is last years model that they want to get rid of.
I'm not sure if posting the merchant's name is allowed, but if anyone is interested in picking one of these up, let me know and I'd be happy to share the info.

No way to tell for sure, but it is listed on the vendor's website as a clearance sale.
I'm now realizing my original post was a little unclear - it is a major merchant that has both a website and many brick and mortar locations. Sorry for the confusion

That's an incredible price for that unit. I would jump on it if I had the need for one.
Unfortunately Even PTO driven augers have a hard time in my soil in the summer when the ground is hard. It's not a matter of power. I need lots of weight pushing down so the bit can bite into the hard ground.

I'd say you can go ahead and list the company....unless you have stock in it...lol. Though at that price, they're probably losing money. I'm seriously guessing it's a misprint in the ad...but I've seen stranger things.

And the merchant is.... Grainger!
Here's a direct link:
Gas Post Hole Digger, 1 Man, 32cc, 1.6 HP - Post Hole Diggers - Lawn and Garden - Hand Tools : Grainger Industrial Supply
I was in disbelief too so I called Grainger and asked about my order status. Apparently, it shipped yesterday from Texas

If I was back in VA I would have jumped on it...but what I have for "soil" here is just rock, gravel, and sand. Our fences are all block.

I've got 100# of extra weight mounted on the far end of my PTO auger and quite often it still takes 15-20 minutes to get down 30+", and that's not hitting rocks. The same rig, when the ground is moist will bore a hole in 20 seconds.

Well...when a price like that pops up...it won't last long. Bought a brand name 22" LCD TV from Wally World online a few months back...it was over $100 below the no name brands, with better features. Sold out in about 6 hrs....

Sorry to hear that - I tried to get it up here as soon as I saw it. Hopefully someone else was able to take advantage of it.
Mine arrived today and it looks like a really killer machine!

No need to appologize, that was a killer price. I appreciate the heads up, we can all enjoy saving a few bucks when possible, and as mentioned, stuff discounted that much sells quick.
