Walbro WT682

I just bought the rebuild kit for this Walbro and it fires and runs for about 2 seconds and dies. As I was cranking on it again I've found gas spitting out of the muffler. It was doing this before I bought the rebuild kit. Could the needle be sticking??

I'm assuming you used the new needle from the kit.
I always shine up the float needle cavity with 0000 steel wool strands twirled by a broken toothpick or Qtip

Also, if you used new metering lever, it might be set too high, I usually use the old metering lever if it's not too worn. Also assuming you got the metering spring set under the lever correctly.

Thanks Glen. I ended up retrofitting another Walbro carb to the weed eater and it runs like a champ....thanks for the quick help, I will start trying that now.

Troy Bilt spark cable problem... maybe?

I have a fairly new Troy-Bilt gas trimmer (TB21 EC) that starts and runs just fine for 3 to 10 minutes depending on how hot the engine is, and then quits. I've noticed that right before the engine quits, it surges a bit, sputters, then dies. It will start up again just fine but then quits shortly thereafter. I spoke to a guy at technical support who said that the problem was the spark cable. I suppose I should just take his word for it, but the replacement part runs about $60 for a machine that costs $99., and you can't get just the cable, you have to buy the whole "Module Assembly", part #753-05420. So does this sound like the spark cable to you, and is there any fix other than replacing the whole module?Read More

Hi All, As if I didn't have my own mower problems. LOL. My neighbor brought his John Deere over for me to look at. He has owned it for 5 years and had no problems. He pulled it out of his shed yesterday, it started right up and he drove it to the front yard. He engaged the deck an that's when it all went downhill. It started running rough and died. Now when you try to start it, it just backfires. I checked what I thought could cause the starting problrems. It has strong spark, fuel pump is working good, has good compression. I can hear the fuel solenoid click when I turn on the key. I put a shot of fuel in the spark plug hole, just a bigger backfire! It sounds like it is a timing problem, I just thought it was odd that it came on all the sudden. Flywheel key should be good since it was running good and mower deck wasn't on when it died.
