why won't it start

I'm obviously missing something
I changed the fuel filter on my Symplicty mower and now it won't start up. I have fuel in the filter and fuel at the carburetor cause I pulled the line loose at the carb. Could the needle valve be stuck in the bowl? and can I use a blow gun to try to dislodge it? Any help will be appreciated!!! Oh and it does run a few seconds if I pour gas into the carb itself.

Could depend on what Simplicity mower you have and what engine is on it?
Was there any problem before changing the fuel filter?
If you have a solenoid on your carb, it could be a connection come loose or stopped working...

Thanx for the reply, BFH, No, nothing was wrong before I changed it. Just thought it was time to do so. Im at work right now but I'll check about the solenoid when I get home, tonight.

BTW I assume the solenoid is there to open the gate for fuel to come thru when the key is turned on?

Is your fuel filter direction specific and is it installed with the arrow (if imprinted with one) pointing towards the carb? Is it the correct fuel filter? Or is it an aftermarket one that may have more resistance than the fuel pump can over come?
