Stihl fs-36 weedeater

I have stihl fs36 weedeater that was working fine and then wouldnt start back up. When pulling the cord it is jerky at spots, not smooth like it was. If I remove the plug it pulls smooth like it used to. Has spark, has compression, will not even start with a spray of ether. Hopefully this is a common problem with them. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
Thanks in advance

Leave the plug in it, pull off the plug wire, though, and see if it still jerks.
