Gas blower problem

Gas blower problem

I have a stihl bg72 gas blower.....My Pull cord broke and I need to know how to put a new cord on it.....I also am having trouble with the blower running smoothly at full throttle....it starts and idles fine but a full speed it runs rough....thanks for your help

I am guessing it is like other Stihl blowers;
Remove the three screws holding the pull start, I think they are T20 or T25 torx, now fish out the remaining rope, now turn the spool in the direction it would turn if you were pulling the rope, when you have turned it as far as it will go, back it off until the hole in the spool and the hole in the outer assembly align, feed in the new rope, tie a knot, slowly release the spool while holding the new rope, it will rewind itself, install the pull grip and you are good to go.
