Poulan Tractor Engine runs, but dies when clutch engaged...

I have a Poulan 48" lawn tractor with a 23 HP Kohler engine. It has worked great, but recently, my brother in law has been using it and has burnt 3 belts in 2 months.

After the last belt, I decided to change out the blades. All went well until I started
the engine. Started great, but when I engaged the clutch, the engine died. The
PTO for the deck was off, and when I tried to engage it, the engine died as it should have. Right now I have too many other things on my mind and am brain
dead as to what I should check out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

I would start with the seat switch.

I agree... push the connector on the seat switch tighter.
