Poulan 4218AV Runs wide open

I start it with choke fully open. It runs fairly fast, but when I move the choke to half, it runs wide open, as soon as I hit the throttle trigger it dies. I have tried three different carborators on it, same thing with each. I did see somewhere that it could be a bad gasket at the intake. Any suggestions besides wrapping it around a tree.

It sounds like a vacuum leak, either at the intake gasket or the crank seals. Try spraying a little WD40 around either at idle and see where the rpms react.
