There is probably a vent hose that threads into the top that you can unscrew to add some oil. This has hydrogear units on it that are considered to be sealed for life. Is there any evidence of fluid having leaked out (wet oily spots on the tranny)? Check the relief valve area where you pull the little rod so you can roll the mower. Grass can pack around the valve and make it so that it doesn't go all the way back in when you move it. These trannys take synthetic 20w-50 oil.
