The Tecumseh 10 Hp engine is this an OHV or L- head engine and how do I tell?

An OHV will have a 2-inch cube on top of the cylinder thats usually marked "OHV" while a l-head will be flat on top. the difference is that an OHV has the valves on top of the cylander, which results in a higher compression stroke leading to potentially more power. A l-head has the valves off to the side of the cylinder, so when the engine is at TDC (top dead center) the head of the cylinder and valves will line up. based on what i have seen online, i'm thinking that it is a L-head.

You have a typo in the model number. It should read HMSK100. That being said, it is a L head engine.
