Tecumseh 10HP

I have a 5,000Watt Generator with a 10 HP tecumseh engine. It is approx. 10 years oil. I am having a run issue and suspect ignition. Anybody know whether this engine has points or electronic?

Only 10 yrs old not likely...

If you could post a model number would help verify...

Just needs a bigger hammer

Sorry--my ignorance got in the way of giving full details---It is a Tecumseh 10HP cast Iron Sleeve with model number HM100 159232K 3215D.
I have worked on small engines for over 50 years but I havent in the last 5 or so. I rebuilt the carburetor but had to use old parts because the ONLY number on the carburetor is 1074G3L. An extensive search reveals this number is invalid! I am looking toward ignition because the carburetor showed no signs of needing repaired.
The problem is similar to a lean carb. condition in that I have a lot of backfiring and adjusting the carb., or applying the choke, has little or no effect, other then the expected. A condensor or points could cause this problem.

Roger---Could you tell me how you found these numbers. As I stated, I did a search using the engine number and the only number on the carb. and I came up with nothing?
I have ordered the carb. kit.
