Craftsman Snowblower Auger direction spinning and rows of snow

I am writing on behalf of my 85 year old neighbor whose snowblower I use to clear both our driveways. He has a 24 in Craftsman (not sure of the model number - approx. 5 years old). The thrower leaves rows of snow on each pass regardless of how much or little snow you attempt to 'throw'. I noticed that the auger seems to move the snow to the outside of the frame rather than to the middle. He says it's always done this but it seems to be opposite of what should be happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it has always done that, then I would say it was assembled with the augers on the wrong side or upside down. The augers pull snow into the middle. 1 other possibility is that the belt is routed incorrectly causing the augers to spin in reverse.
